Important Fitting Information

Alloy Wheel Installation Check List

By purchasing alloy wheels, spacers, PCD adapters and or tyres from Still Static Ltd you or your agent are fully responsible for the fitting and installation of these alloy wheels and or tyres correctly. Still Static Ltd does not take any responsibility for incorrectly fitted alloy wheels or tyres, and as such are not liable for any claims. We highly recommend that in order to ensure the safe use of your alloy wheels and tyres that you follow our Alloy Wheel Installation Check List Below:
If For Any Reason You Are Unsure Please Contact Us.
Before fitting tyres on all aftermarket wheels you MUST check colour and finish is as ordered and the following

  1. The stud/bolt hole pattern is correct.
  2. That the alloy wheel fits freely on to the hub without interference, and that there are no screws, rivets or retaining clips which may interfere with a firm flat location of the hub against the wheel mounting face.
  3. That the alloy wheel rotates freely and truly on both front and rear hubs.
  4. When fastened to the hub, that no part of the wheel can make contact with the brake drums or callipers; or any other part of the steering or suspension.

Check Nuts/Bolts: Correct fitting is vital BE SURE:

  1. That the thread form is correct (fits nuts without alloy wheels).
  2. That the nut/bolt location seating is correct.
  3. That the stud length is adequate for minimum thread penetration of approximately 1 x stud diameter and not too long as to permit bottoming of the stud in the nut or that the thread penetration of the bolt protrudes through the hub housing to cause damage to internal brake or hub components. We recommend that you should get a minimum of 4-5 turns on the nut/bolt to insure safe fixing. It is the responsibility of the fitter that they are correctly mounted and secure.
  4. That the threads are rust free, and not over lubricated
  5. When sleeve nuts are used, that the shank diameter is correct and that the bearing washers are always used.

When Fitting the Tyre Make Sure:

  1. That the alloy wheel rim size is compatible with tyre size.
  2. Be Wary of scratching the protective lacquer coating. (On aluminium wheels and some chrome wheels) Aluminium corrodes very easily once exposed to atmosphere, water, road salt or corrosive acid based alloy wheel cleaners and chemicals.
  3. Where possible always use the adhesive type of balance weight, as these help to avoid scratching of the alloy wheel finish.

Finally Check:

  1. That the alloy wheel and tyre assembly does not contact any part of the suspension, body work or internal hub components (brakes, sensors etc) by carrying out full bump and lock to lock tests as well as a full visual inspection of the back / hub section of the alloy wheel fixing assembly before driving away from the fitting bay. Do not take risks – Wheel Security is vital check with us if you have any doubts. We would also recommend that after a period of around 20 miles that you check your wheels to ensure security as some alloy wheels may need time to bed in correctly.

We reserve to right to PH test wheels and inspect wheels for damage prior to any refund or warranty replacement. Wheel Warranty: Please be careful not to kerb your alloy wheels or damage them in any way as this will void the manufactures warranty. Return Items Lost In Transit: We cannot be held responsible for packages lost in transit as you are responsible for returning the item/items to us. We recommend sending the package by Recorded/Special Delivery. Guarantee: All items for sale on our website are covered by a manufacturer’s warranty. Every item unless stated is covered for at least 6 months unlimited mileage (from the date of invoice) – some items are longer. Guarantees and warranties cover manufacturing defects and not misuse or abuse. Warrantees Goods returned under warranty must be accompanied by a valid proof of purchase and will be dealt with as a matter of priority with the manufacturer, for quality control purposes and to establish whether the cause is a genuine manufacturing fault. Still Static Ltd is not responsible for any carriage charges or labour charges incurred during the fitment, or removal of suspected faulty, incorrectly ordered or supplied parts. All warranty claims are classed as return to base warranty. Painted alloy wheels have a 6-month warranty, unless otherwise stated. This is only valid if they have been cleaned regularly, have not been kerbed and have no stone chips etc that have broken the lacquer. We suggest commercial wheel cleaners are not used on Alloy or Chrome wheels. Wheel manufacturers are so adamant about the potential damage from wheel cleaners that the use of these will void the manufacturers warranty. Never pressure wash alloy wheels as this can badly affect the paint and will also void the warranty. We would recommend washing alloy wheels at least twice a week with normal car wash solution. Chrome wheels have no warranty owing to UK adverse weather conditions and suggest during the winter chrome wheels should be removed to avoid deterioration. Alloy wheels, especially polished or non-metallic plated wheels require special cleaning. We suggest the use of commercial wheel cleaners is avoided, as wheel manufacturers are so adamant about the potential damage from wheel cleaners that the use of these will void the manufacturers warranty. Never pressure wash alloy wheels as this can badly affect the paint and will also void the warranty. We would recommend washing alloy wheels at least twice a week with normal car wash solution. Tyre fitting and advice: Any advice given on tyre sizes that are not of the manufactures recommendation are given on the basis that they are intended for show use only and not for use on public roads. We can advise on the correct size wheel and tyre for your car, In the event that you want to fit wider than recommended this is down to your discretion and we hold no liability for this or any damages or expense caused as a result.
